Grouped data organizes raw data into intervals
- Grouped data involves organizing raw data into different classes or intervals. This method is used to simplify the data analysis process by categorizing data points into specified ranges.
- An example of grouped data is provided with the heights of 12 students measured in centimeters. These heights are grouped into intervals: 121-125 cm with 2 students, 126-130 cm with 2 students, 131-135 cm with 3 students, 136-140 cm with 3 students, and 141-145 cm with 2 students.
- Each interval in the grouped data example has the same class width, which is 4 centimeters. This uniformity in class width helps in maintaining consistency in data representation.
- Ungrouped data, on the other hand, refers to data that is not categorized into any groups or intervals. It is presented in its raw form without any classification.
- An example of ungrouped data is given with the heights of 9 students, where each height is listed individually without grouping into intervals.
